What we read
Once a parent says yes, a student connects their school Google account once. We ask Google for these, all read-only:
- Sign-in
- Your name, email address and Google account ID, so we know it’s you.
- Classes
- The names of your classes.
- Your work
- Your assignments, their due dates, and whether you turned each one in. Google’s screen mentions grades; we don’t store or show them.
- Announcements
- Your teachers’ announcements.
- Class materials
- The titles, descriptions and links of class materials. We can’t open attachments.
The exact scopes are listed on School setup. We never ask for Google Drive or Gmail, and we never write to Classroom.
Why we read it
- To build your one list of work and your plan for tonight.
- To find upcoming tests and offer practice.
- To send the reminders you chose.
- To show your parents what’s due and whether it’s done.
- To give hints on an item you ask about, if AI help is on for that class.
Where it’s kept
In our database in Montréal, Canada. If AI help is on, only the parts you ask about go to Anthropic in the United States, after a filter removes classmates’ names. Every processor we use is named in the privacy notice.
Google data is never sold, never used for ads, and never used to train AI models.
Who sees it
- You.
- Your parents see what’s due and whether it’s done. They never see your chats.
- A person at SideKrew reads your content only for a safety flag, a chat you report, or to fix a problem you reported, only if the student says we can look. Every view is recorded.
How to disconnect
- A parent: on Your child’s settings, turn off Google Classroom. We stop reading right away.
- A student: Your account › Delete my account. This disconnects Classroom and closes your account.
- In your Google Account: go to myaccount.google.com/connections, choose SideKrew School, and remove its access. We can’t read anything after that. To have what we already copied deleted too, use one of the two ways above, or write to us.
After a parent turns Classroom off or a student deletes their account, we delete synced Classroom content from our live database within 24 hours. What else stays, and for how long, is in the privacy notice.
Limited Use
SideKrew School's use of information received from Google Workspace scopes will adhere to the Google User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In short: we use Google data only to run the features you see. We share it only with the processors named in our privacy notice, for security, or when the law requires it. We never use it for ads, and people never read it except in the cases above.
