Pilot draft — under review with our lawyer before any family’s data is collected.
Pilot charter
The 13 rules SideKrew School follows during the pilot. They come first, ahead of anything else we build.
Draft of October 24, 2026

1. Only invited students
A student gets an account only if their school’s roster lists them and the school has signed the pilot agreement. SideKrew School is separate from SideKrew’s sports product: no shared accounts, no shared data.
2. We read; we never write
We read Classroom with read-only permission. We never post, turn in, change or message anything in Classroom. We never store grades.
3. Help to learn, never the work itself
The AI helper explains, gives hints, works through similar problems and makes practice questions. It never writes essays, answers assigned questions or fills in worksheets. It runs only in classes whose teacher said yes in writing. Every session says it’s AI, and ends with a note the student can copy to credit the help.
4. Grades 7 to 12
The pilot is for Grades 7 to 12. For every student under 18, AI help needs a parent’s yes.
5. A parent says yes first
Only students and parents the school confirms can join. Parents answer three separate questions: Classroom sync, AI help and reminders to the student. Nothing is read from Classroom for a student under 18 until a parent says yes, and any linked parent’s no switches that part off. Only the school’s roster can mark a student as 18 or older.
6. Who sees what
Parents see what’s due, what’s turned in, upcoming tests and how many help sessions were used. Parents never see help chats, practice answers, notes or planned times. The student has a page that shows exactly what their parent sees.
Inside SideKrew, a person reads a student’s content only for a safety concern, when the student reports a chat, or to fix a problem the student or a parent reported, only if the student says we can look. Every such view is logged. We never report a student’s help requests to a school or a parent as cheating.
7. Messages to students
Messages to students are fixed, about their own schoolwork. No ads, no messages written by staff or by the AI. No pushes during the school day or at night, and at most 2 a day (3 on a day with a test-prep session). The lock screen shows no details unless the student turns them on.
8. Safety first
Every student message is checked for safety first. A message that suggests someone may not be safe never goes to the AI: the student sees crisis lines, and a person on our safety team reads it. AI help is open only while that team is on call. We never contact a parent about what a student shared; we follow up with the school’s safety contact.
9. Where data lives
Student data is stored in Canada (Montréal). Some processing happens in the United States, and we name all of it: Anthropic runs the AI helper, Resend sends and receives email, Vercel’s network may pass requests through the US, and phone push services carry reminders. No other company gets student data without a charter change and 30 days’ notice to pilot families.
10. No ads, no selling
No ads. No selling data. No using student data to teach AI models. No outside analytics or tracking pixels. Email open and click tracking are off. Pilot measures are counted by us and reported only as totals.
11. You can leave
Disconnecting Classroom or deleting an account removes the content from our live database within 24 hours. Backups age out within 7 days. The privacy notice says exactly what stays behind, where and for how long.
12. English and French
Everything is in English and French. Student screens are written at a Grade 7 reading level.
13. Everything is logged
Every change, and every time a person views student content, writes a record of who did it and when.
